Two beautiful lithographs by Georges Redon (1869-1943) Size without frame: 35.5 x 25 cm The first: "What a practical thing" The second: "Very little water" Generally in good condition (see photos) Biography Georges Redon, whose full name is Jules Georges Redon, was a French artist born on 16 November 1869 in Paris and died on 22 January 1943 in the same city. He is known for his contributions as a painter, illustrator, caricaturist, poster artist, engraver, and lithographer. Although he was born on Rue d'Hauteville, he is considered a child of Montmartre, a neighbourhood to which he remained loyal throughout his life. Artistic career After his military service, Redon began drawing in 1893 for news and humorous newspapers. He collaborated with several publications such as L'Univers illustré, L'Illustration, Le Journal, Le Petit Parisien, and Le Rire. He exhibited his works at the Salon des artistes français and the Société nationale des beaux-arts. During the First World War, he was mobilised and worked in the camouflage section's workshop while continuing his work as a draughtsman.
