Large sculptural umbrella stand in the shape of an owl from the 1960s/70s. A true rarity treasure with its 60cm height... this umbrella stand is perfect for its function and makes for an imposing floor piece with a robust and figurative style. The stylised shape is almost geometric with a wide head, truly embodying the spirit of houses like "CLOUCH & FITZGERALD" (finesse of metal) or creations in the wake of MAISON JANSEN (theatrical side). It is a superb and sought-after collector's item. The fact that it is unsigned does not detract from its visible quality. It has a "mesmerising" presence! Its base is certainly made of composite or heavy resin covered with a layer of chrome plating. It is very heavy. The spectacular and rare detail that brings it to life and typifies the eccentricity of Hollywood Regency is the eyes. It features large, bright turquoise lucite eyes embedded in the sockets. This detail makes it a cult collectible. The decoration, its plumage is very detailed and regular. Its matte and textured finish, not shiny, adds more elegance and class...
