Magnificent and rare animal sculpture from the Art Deco period representing a Royal Pheasant, created by the famous sculptor and ceramist Charles Lemanceau and produced around 1930 by the prestigious Saint-Clément factory. This "Royal Pheasant" model is a particularly sought-after piece and very few were produced in this variation. It is distinguished by its deep green glaze enhanced with sublime golden finishes (crest, beak, plumage, and legs), offering a striking contrast typical of the refinement of the Art Deco period. The piece still bears its original label "Clément – Art Ceramics" on the base. About the artist: Charles Lemanceau (1905–1980) Graduated from the School of Applied Arts and the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, Charles Lemanceau is one of the essential masters of Art Deco animal sculpture. He exhibited as early as 1925 at the Autumn Salon alongside major figures like Henri Matisse and Le Corbusier, and he made his mark in the 1930s through his collaboration with the Lunéville-Saint-Clément factory. His unique style is characterized by clean, geometric, and extremely dynamic lines that enhance the grace of the animal world.
