2 antique classic style chairs in wood and bronze ornaments

2 antique chairs in classic style (empire or directoire style with an influence from the louis xvi period) with neat finishes, made of walnut/mahogany; these noble woods were commonly used for refined furniture at the time. The upholstery fabric is in old pink velvet, as a nod to the soft and sophisticated colors of the time. The backrest with simple and elegant geometric lines is straight and slightly curved at the top (in the shape of a gendarme's hat). Bronze ornament in the middle. The other bronzes are placed at the intersections of the legs and the belt of the chair, and at the front legs. The seat is round and studded. The front legs are straight with bronzes, the rear legs are slightly curved "saber legs", characteristic of the empire style to bring elegance and lightness to the silhouette of the furniture. This design was also a transition between the straighter lines of the louis XVI style and the more pronounced curves of the empire style. They are light (about 5 kg/chair) and measure 93cm high, and 43cm wide. Seat height 45cm. The chairs come from a Parisian apartment and are in fairly good general condition, without major damage except for a few upholstery nails missing on the second chair, see photo. Estimated date of manufacture between the end of the 19th and the middle of the 20th century.
