Authentic pair of French club armchairs with a so-called "moustache" backrest, made of full-grain cowhide, circa 1930-1940. The moustache model, the most sought-after of French clubs, gets its name from the curved line at the top of its backrest. Beautiful original patina, never touched up: deep tawny leather on the protected areas, warm lightening on the armrests. Back upholstered in full leather surrounded by round studs, finished with piping all around, independent seat cushions, solid wood legs with rectangular pads. Sold to be restored, in their original condition, with their visible history. CONDITION — For both: tired springs and sagging seats, upholstery to be redone (springs, straps, horsehair); leather cracked and worn in places, especially on the armrests and the lower skirt; small chips at the corners. Healthy frames, stable and upright armchairs. Armchair No. 1: complete leather, no through tear, significant wear on the armrests and cushion. Armchair No. 2: open tear of about 30 cm on the right armrest, canvas and horsehair visible; front edge of the cushion open across its entire width; lower skirt frayed. Backrest and left armrest in good condition. Untouched photos, defects included. Expect to pay around €500 to €700 per armchair for a complete restoration by an upholsterer.
