A vase created at the Krakow Glass Institute according to the design of Barbara Świstacka in the 1970s is an expression of Polish design's search at the intersection of craftsmanship and experimentation. The form is based on asymmetry and fluid lines: milky-iridescent glass with a subtle gradient towards creamy tones is combined with a transparent, twisted element wrapping around the top and topped with a glass ball. Distinct, hand-formed details – irregular connections, delicate folds – confirm the technique of studio glass blowing, characteristic of the era. The satin-matte surface is broken by single shiny areas. The object is preserved in a used condition: visible repair (gluing of one of the transparent parts), few age marks and light patina, without loss of functionality – the effect of an authentic, collectible vintage item. The form of this vase resonates with the spirit of late modernism – it speaks the language of experimental freedom of the 1970s, when Polish applied art sought its own trajectory between Western trends and a unique local idiom. Asymmetry and organic shape suggest a dialogue with nature, but it is also the voice of the era: an invitation to openness to unpredictability, rejection of rigid geometry. The matte glass seems to evoke quiet mornings, the glass ball caught in motion – the fleetingness of the moment. The vase, despite minor traces of past years and visible repair, retains the personal history and authenticity of the manual creative process. This sculptural vase can be displayed solo on a low oak table in a minimalist living room or combined with postmodern objects from the 1970s – formalist candlesticks or artistic glass in strong colours. It will bring a subtle accent to calm, collector's interiors with a subdued palette, but will also fit into eclectic arrangements: combined with soft velvet fabric, chrome or raw concrete, it will create a distinctive composition. It works well with raw daylight, which will highlight the transparency of the glass and the nuances of the matte texture.
