Pair of vintage bird bookends in gold metal and marble – Art Deco

A pair of vintage bookends representing two birds in flight, made of metal with a bronze and gold patina, mounted on elegant white marble bases. The two birds face each other in a particularly decorative symmetrical composition. Their wings are widely spread, and the movement of their bodies adds a lot of dynamism to the whole, while the stylised plant decoration accompanying each bird brings a beautiful Art Deco touch. The metal has a dark patina enhanced by golden details that highlight the plumage, wings, and various reliefs of the sculpture. Each piece rests on a thick rectangular base made of naturally veined white marble. The overall condition is very good. There are some slight marks and variations in patina, consistent with the age and vintage character of the pair, which are visible in the photographs. Dimensions of each bookend: 12 cm in height, 11 cm in width, and 7 cm in depth. Weight 600 grams each.
