Tubab which means (white man in woloff) dominant language to the senegal, is a series of chairs made from recycled gas cans, truck parts and discarded bus seats. In particular commissioned by the Centre for Research and Design Architecture (CentreARC), the chairs were designed and developed to be produced in small series during a 3-month stay of sari anttonen and leena carelse (award-winning Finnish designers) in Rufisque, Senegal. Designed in a non-industrial context, they share a similar steel tube structure and recycled sheet metal. The production of tubab chairs results in a diverse series where each piece is unique in its texture and color of material while sharing the structural identity and silhouette of a group. These pieces have a strong presence and reflect their origins where industrial rejections, traditional mastery and ancestral mystery rub shoulders. The series is limited and numbered. Numbered: 0036. Year: 1996. Rare on the market Handmade piece.
