A vintage set of six French mid-century dining chairs in warm stained wood and handwoven natural rush, made in France during the 1960s and designed in the style of Charlotte Perriand. Defined by their architectural square-section frames, woven rush seats and broad woven backrests, this matching set reflects the rustic-modern side of post-war French design, where straightforward construction and natural materials became central to the aesthetic. The chairs have a beautifully restrained construction built around straight square-section uprights and slender horizontal stretchers. Their woven rush seats are gently shaped rather than completely flat, creating a subtle sculptural quality, while the wide rush-covered backrests bring texture and softness to the geometric timber frames. The repeated lines of the weaving, warm aged wood and natural tonal variation give the complete set a particularly cohesive and tactile presence. The design belongs to a broader tradition of French post-war rustic modernism, in which designers including Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Gautier-Delaye revisited vernacular furniture through simplified forms, visible construction and natural materials.  Condition. Good vintage condition with signs of age and use consistent with its period. The wooden frames show natural patina, light scratches, scuffs, surface marks and areas of finish wear, including some darker marks as shown in the photos. The woven rush seats and backrests show natural tonal variation, light age-related wear and occasional minor fraying. The weaving remains well preserved overall, with no obvious major structural damage visible.
