Afghan carpet

This textile is a Balouch prayer rug of Afghan or Persian origin, measuring 155x88 cm. Main characteristics: The Mihrab (niche): The rectangular raised shape at the top of the central field simulates the prayer niche facing Mecca. The stylised tree of life motif: The centre is adorned with a vertical axis flanked by repetitive geometric elements evoking leaves, flowers, or trees. Tribal colours: It features the classic and dark palette of the Balouch tribes, combining a deep burgundy background, midnight blue, and touches of cream or white wool.
