Art Deco Round Coffee Table from Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli, Poland, 1950s

This round coffee table was manufactured by Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli in Poland during the 1950s. The piece represents Art Deco-inspired design, distinguished by its decorative form and carefully crafted woodworking details. The round tabletop is finished with walnut veneer, arranged radially to create a decorative geometric pattern. The symmetrical arrangement of the wood grain forms a distinctive composition that serves as one of the table’s main decorative features. The tabletop is finished with a rounded, sculpted edge. A particularly interesting feature of the table is its beech wood base. The construction consists of wide, gracefully curved elements that join together at the bottom and extend into short, angled legs. The open, three-dimensional structure gives the table a sculptural character and a sense of visual lightness. The combination of decorative walnut veneer and the flowing lines of the beech wood base makes this table an interesting example of mid-20th-century Polish furniture design. Thanks to its distinctive form, the piece is well suited for use as a coffee table or occasional table in a living room, office or lounge area. It can serve as a striking feature in Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern and contemporary interiors. The table has undergone professional furniture restoration. The wooden surfaces were stripped of the old coating, then stained in a rosewood colour and protected with semi-matt lacquer. The restoration has enhanced the decorative grain of the walnut veneer and the flowing lines of the beech wood base while preserving the table’s original form. The original furniture label has been preserved beneath the tabletop, providing important documentation of the piece’s provenance.
