Spectacular sculptural floor lamp signed François Chatain, made in France around 1980. This rare and monumental piece (1.70 m in height) features a rhythmic alternation of black lacquered half-arcs and golden metallic spheres, forming a geometric and luminous composition of great elegance. This play of balance between deep black and golden reflections gives the lamp a unique sculptural presence, straddling the line between artwork and functional design. It perfectly embodies the spirit of postmodern French design from the late 20th century, in the vein of Pierre Cardin, Romeo Rega, or Willy Rizzo. The ensemble is completed by a large black cylindrical lampshade that highlights the verticality and visual power of the base. The original switch, marked “François Chatain – Série 4A”, is still present and fully functional. Details. Designer: François Chatain. Origin: France. Period: around 1980.
