Very elegant terracotta lamp with manganese oxide, glossy enamels in grey tones. Creation of the 60s by Jacques and Dani Ruelland. Black fabric lampshade, white interior. Height with shade: 30cm. Perfect condition. Signature engraved under foot: Ruelland. Jacques (1926-2008) and Dani Ruelland (1933-2010). Jacques Ruelland graduated from the Paris School of Fine Arts in the late 1940s. In 1950, with Danielle, his wife, he stopped in Vallauris, confirming their desire to work with ceramics. They began their profession by improvising themselves in a cellar in Versailles, then settled in a workshop located on Rue de Buci. The Ruelland couple trained in ceramics, Ruelland worked terracotta inspired by other arts such as painting but also theatre. Between the 1950s and the end of the 70s, Jacques and Danielle created a number of ceramic models, pitchers, bowls, cups, vases, creating the décor of the shapes she imagined. In 1970, the couple moved to the south of France in the commune of Angles, leaving Paris permanently, which did not prevent them from experimenting with new ceramic processes and making this material known around them.
