Rare opaque Sarreguemines plate: it has a matte blue background, decorated with white and gold paint with bunches of grapes and stylized foliage. The decoration is delicate, with a fairly fine gold line connecting the elements, which corresponds to a careful production of the late 19th, early 20th century. In opaque Sarreguemines: ceramic close to fine earthenware, produced by the factory, a white and slightly translucent paste, denser and less porous than traditional earthenware, but without reaching the hardness of porcelain. The stylized plant motifs and the colors recall creations influenced by Art Nouveau, a movement in vogue between 1890 and 1910. The use of intense blue and opalescent white for the motifs gives an appearance close to the Japanese decorations appreciated at that time. Stamped: opaque Sarreguemines coat of arms: type of mark was commonly used between 1875 and 1910 approximately. Printed number "1012" which probably corresponds to the model or the decoration. Intaglio mark "1m22" which could designate a mold or serial number, an internal production mark. Good condition, visible cracks on the glaze: this is common on earthenware and opaque, due to the aging of the glaze. A hairline crack very barely visible on the top but visible under the bottom, fine without major impact on the solidity. Micro scratches from use. Diameter: 18 cms.
