Very pretty bowl on a pedestal in deep cobalt blue glass, set in an elegant silver-plated metal mount. An old European piece, probably French or German, circa 1900-1920. The circular cobalt glass bowl is surrounded by a pierced gallery in the Louis XVI/neoclassical style, adorned with floral garlands in festoons suspended between small architectural supports. The whole rests on a flared central foot in silver-plated metal. A very beautiful table or decorative object, which can be used as a fruit bowl, a catch-all, or a centrepiece. Maximum diameter of 20cm, maximum height of 8.5cm, approximately 3.5cm height for the glass bowl alone. The glass is in very good condition with slight discreet surface scratches. The mount shows wear to the plating, as well as oxidation and stains, particularly underneath and around the foot, with some traces of rust suggesting a ferrous metal beneath the silver plating. 830g.
