Substantial antique painted black chest of drawers

This is a handsome large antique chest of drawers which dates to the turn of the 20th century. The chest is made of solid mahogany and is fairly heavy, solid and well made, ideal for a large bedroom, a useful storage piece for any home. The chest is simply but elegantly styled, the front fitted with an arrangement of eight drawers including a large central hat drawer. The drawers are finished with brass drop handles set on decorative back plates and all have their original locks but sadly the key has been lost somewhere in time. The chest is set on a deep base plinth and the drawers have canted edges. I have hand painted this piece in my own mix of black chalk based paint before distressing the paintwork for a gently aged look, the finish has been waxed and has a very low sheen. Condition. The chest is in good solid condition with various small cosmetic marks of age and use. There are various little dents and scratches to the wood below the painted finish and to either side panel there is a small age related shrinkage crack. The drawer interiors are in clean condition and all of the drawers run well. Measurements. Height-121.5cms. Width-120cms at the base, 121cms at the top. Depth- 55cms. The measurements are taken at the widest points.
