Fumidai 踏み台, japan, (stood on to reach high objects). These wooden steps used to be found in every traditional japanese household. The circular opening is to make it easier to hold and move the fumidai. Due to their simplicity and the beautiful weathering of the wood, from years of intensive use, they have become beautiful decorative objects. Very nice as a plant stand.
