Beautiful special art deco vase in glass said in hyalite with sailboat and seagull decoration made by the glassworks DOYEN (1909-1968) in Havré-ville (Mons) period 1930-39. We see beautiful golden highlights and red and turquoise colors. The hyalite glasses were manufactured in Belgium at the glassworks of Rupel Boom, Doyen and Scailmont. On the other hand, highlights rarely exist at de Rupel boom. As for Scailmont, it was also distinguished by decorations with highlights of three colors: red, gold and turquoise. Based on my research, I can affirm some points. The Doyen glassworks like other glassworks of the Centre have used them but the distinction must be made at the level of the beaded collar. It is more than likely that this vase is attributed to DOYEN Why: 1) We find on the market the same hyalite vases with similar sailboat decorations. The vases are only of different shapes (see photos other models) 2) with serrated fine neck The vase has a serrated upper edge (or small beads) typical of DOYEN production Like the Val Saint Lambert in Liège and Scailmont in Manage, the DOYEN glassworks in Havré were among the jewels of the Belgian glassworks internationally renowned in 1930. According to the author of the book on art deco; the DOYEN glassworks was one of the exhibitors alongside Val Saint Lambert in Liège at the Paris Expo in 1937. Michele Thiry (in "Art Deco in the 50s"), the Verrerie Doyen was one of the exhibitors alongside Val St Lambert at the Paris Expo in 1937. Wear on the small pearls of the collar as well as a lack of golden flange.
