Carl Auböck II paper basket in raffia and brass, umbrella stand, 1950s

A beautiful vintage minimalist paper basket from the mid-century modern period on a brass tripod base dating from the 1950s. Model 3890, designed by Carl Auböck II and made by Werkstätten Carl Auböck, Vienna, Austria. The basket is handmade from raffia and features two small side handles; the base is made of solid brass, delicately hand-polished. It is in very good condition with only minimal signs of age-related wear. This item has also been offered as an umbrella stand, and the basket can be used without the base — thanks to the small handle, it can be hung on the wall or on an Auböck coat rack.
