Vintage Glashütte Limburg Flower Glass Flush Light 1960s

A sculptural and deeply beautiful pressed glass light fitting by Glashütte Limburg, West Germany, dating to the 1960s, in very good condition with no damage and fully functional. The shade is cast in the form of a stylised flower: scalloped petal edges define the outline, while the entire upper surface is covered in a dense radial ribbing that emanates from the centre like the cross-section of a sunflower or water lily. At the very centre, a raised cluster of small circular bubble forms creates a focal point of concentrated texture — the glass equivalent of a flower's seed head. The pressed glass is thick and substantial, in a warm champagne-clear tone that reads as almost colourless in daylight but takes on a beautiful warm amber quality when lit from within. Switched on, the ribbed surface scatters soft, diffused light with a gentle directional pattern — intimate and atmospheric rather than harsh, exactly as the best mid-century glass lighting always is.
