Anatolian carpets and kilims were woven in order to protect themselves from the winter cold. Over time this art of weaving was developed and disseminated by the nomadic turks. They are today generally categorized under its different names: jerevan, kayser, mekri, hereke, ghiordes, kula, oushak, yahyali, yagcibedir.
