School poster 1963: THE BEAN, from the AUZOUX series illustrated by P. SOUGY. On strong canvas paper rolled, measuring 95cm wide X 1.25m long with original black wooden rods at the top and bottom, wall suspension system. Label S35 Bean. The paper is coming away in places from its backing and there are some splits present, some of which have been repaired with adhesive... (see photos) otherwise the poster is complete and the colours are bright. The descendants of the naturalist Doctor Louis Thomas Jérôme Auzoux (1797-1880) published a series of educational posters in the 1940s to 1960s intended for biology and human or veterinary physiology courses in schools and universities. Paul Sougy, curator of the Natural History Museum of Orléans and illustrator, was responsible for their design. He employed a coloured chalk style on a blackboard. Packed weight 2kg.
