Elegant and imposing cut crystal wine decanter with a solid 925/1000 silver mount, attributed to the famous Portuguese silversmith house Topázio – Ferreira Marques, founded in Porto in 1874. The thick crystal body features intricate geometric cutwork in a criss-cross pattern, complemented by a wide flared base and a radiant star cut into the bottom. The spectacular silver mount is entirely worked in relief in a historicist/neo-Renaissance style. It showcases various figurative scenes surrounded by foliage, fruits, and vine tendrils. The spout is adorned with a mask, while the large, flowing handle is decorated with bunches of grapes and plant motifs. The articulated lid is particularly remarkable, featuring a handle in the form of a rearing lion holding a shield, enhancing the heraldic character of the piece. The mount bears the mark "0.925" accompanied by a shield hallmark, indicating a silver content of 925/1000. Maker: Topázio – Ferreira Marques & Irmão (FMT). Origin: Portugal. Period: 20th century, in the neo-Renaissance style. Materials: cut crystal and solid 925/1000 silver. Dimensions: H. 29 × W. Approx. 14 cm. Condition: very good overall condition, with patina. A particularly decorative and richly crafted piece of silverware, showcasing the craftsmanship of the Topázio house, suitable for both a silver collection and a beautiful table art ensemble.
