Kosmos Serving Platter

Serving dish from the arabia factory in finland. Model: kosmos gog (for designer gunvor olin-grönqvist) production dates from 1962 to 1969. Gunvor olin-grönqvist designed the kosmos series in 1962 based on the arabian ceramic "s" shape that was designed only a few years earlier by ulla procopé. This hand-painted pattern was introduced in 1962 and lasted about 4 years. Grönqvist spent her entire career at arabia after graduating from the school of arts and design (now the aalto university school of arts, design and architecture, renamed in 1972 in honor of alumnus and renowned designer aalvor aalto.
