This teak desk was made in Denmark in the 1960s and exemplifies the Mid-Century Modern style, which emphasised proportion, functionality, and quality of craftsmanship. Designs of this type were created for both home and office use, combining a compact structure with a light formal expression. The design is based on a classic and asymmetrical layout. On the right side is a module with three drawers, and on the left, a lockable cabinet with a single front (a key is included). The central space is clearly accentuated by a delicate arc cut in the lower part, softening the geometric shape of the body and introducing a subtle detail characteristic of Danish designs from this period. The drawer fronts feature integrated handles made of solid teak with a slightly rounded profile. This design is consistent with the aesthetics of the 1960s, when handles were considered an integral part of the design rather than an accessory. Slim, tapered legs give the whole piece a visual lightness and lift the body off the ground, a common practice in Danish design of the time. The warm hue of the teak and the distinct grain highlight the horizontal nature of the top and the serene arrangement of the fronts. The entire piece maintains a balance between function and form: the structure is clear, the proportions are balanced, and the detail is subordinate to the overall design. The piece has been professionally and carefully restored by removing old finishes, staining, and finishing with varnish. The restoration was carried out by a talented and experienced carpenter with over 20 years of experience. Thanks to these treatments, the desk is stunning and will serve its new owner for many years without fear of damage or wear from daily use.
