Vintage lot of 13 rare and high quality kokeshi dolls, authentic kokeshi made in japan in the showa period, circa 1950s to 1970s. This lot concerns 13 extremely beautiful kokeshi dolls, they exist in all kinds of sizes, the largest in this set is over 31cm high, the smallest 21cm! It is a beautiful lot with traditional kokeshi from the tohoku region, handmade and signed. This unique lot contains different types of kokeshi (zao, toogata, hijiori, nambu, yamagata and naruko type) Specific areas have other types of kokeshi, they can be roughly divided into 11 different types, each with a characteristic shape or style. These dolls are very popular with collectors, they are also said to bring luck which makes them extra popular! Very nice objects to decorate a child's room or living room with. What are kokeshi dolls actually Kokeshi originate from japan and are simple wooden dolls with no arms or legs that have been made as children's toys for over 150 years. They are hand turned from wood and have a simple body and head with a few thin painted lines to define the face. The body often has flower and ring designs. This lovely collection is in good vintage condition, some have faded body designs, a few have minor marks and surface scratches but they still look fantastic, check out the photos for more details! Dimensions: smallest kokeshi are 21cm high, largest are 31cm high. Head diameter ranges from 5 to 8cm, body diameter ranges from 3 to 5.5cm. Weight: 3.601kg combined.
