Original vintage Kuplat pendant lamp, designed by Finnish designer Yki Nummi for Stockmann-Orno. Nummi designed the Kuplat at the end of the 1950s. The design is a beautiful example of his research into light, transparency, and plastic. Two overlapping acrylic shades together form a seemingly simple spherical shape, with the light source completely hidden from view. This early vintage example has a transparent smoke/brown-grey outer shade and an opal white inner shade. The brass finish at the top forms a warm contrast with the acrylic. When the lamp is on, the inner shade lights up softly and the light is spread both downwards and through the transparent outer shade. The lamp is in neat original vintage condition, with light signs of use appropriate to its age and use. The wiring has been renewed with respect for the original design. The original manufacturer's label is still present. Dimensions are as follows: height 30 cm, diameter 40 cm. Carefully selected vintage design. Professionally restored where necessary, with respect for the original design, craftsmanship, and materials used.
