Model 109 armchair designed by Ole Wanscher for France & Daverkosen in the 1950s, complete with matching footstool. It retains its original wool upholstery. Model 109 armchair designed by Ole Wanscher and produced in Denmark by France & Daverkosen in the 1950s, accompanied by its matching footstool. The stained beech frame is defined by slightly angled legs and slender armrests, joined to the uprights through gentle curves that create a continuous profile. The seat and backrest feature generously padded cushions, with the backrest characterized by subtle button tufting. The footstool echoes the design of the armchair’s frame and seat, maintaining the same visual proportions and matching upholstery. The footstool measures 60 × 43 × 49 cm (W × H × D). One of the leading figures of Danish modernism, Wanscher developed a design language strongly rooted in traditional cabinetmaking, reinterpreting it through lighter proportions and a progressive simplification of form. In model 109, the precise transitions and generous openings within the frame visually lighten the armchair while emphasizing the design of the wooden structure. The wool upholstery is original to the period. Good condition. It may show signs of age. Please pay attention to the photographs. AG510
