19th-century solid wood Auvergne storage bench. It combines a comfortable seat with an integrated storage chest, once intended for keeping provisions or firewood; this type of seat was often found near the fireplace, known as a Cantou. Its high panelled back and two armrests give it a enveloping silhouette, while the wide planks and simple joinery highlight its vernacular character. The wood has a beautiful brown patina, with irregularities and signs of use that testify to its history. A piece of popular furniture full of presence, particularly interesting in a contemporary interior. Dimensions: H 95 × Seat height 50 × W 92 × D 48 cm.
