Limoges porcelain plate hand-decorated by A. Lanternier, inspired by Eastern themes. This piece is particularly interesting as it combines the refinement of French porcelain with a distinctly Eastern-influenced decoration. The mark on the reverse confirms that it is Limoges porcelain, specifically from the A. Lanternier (AL) factory. The plate is hand-decorated with floral motifs (probably peonies) and a geometric border resembling bamboo or wood, in gold and ochre tones. It is made of high-quality hard paste, known for its whiteness and translucency. The decoration is in the chinoiserie/orientalist style. This decor is a European interpretation of Asian aesthetics, highly valued in France for export and high-end pieces. Manufacturer: A. Lanternier & Cie (Limoges, France). Two marks are present on the reverse: the green mark of the factory ("Limoges AL France") and a red mark from a decoration workshop or importer. Date: Approximately 1891-1914. The green seal adorned with an anchor and the initials "AL" was used by Alfred Lanternier at the end of the Victorian era and during the Belle Époque, before the start of the First World War. In good vintage condition. Dimensions: 25 cm. As these are antique objects, they may show signs of wear. The photographs are an integral part of the description and condition of the item.
