Coupé ad arco floor lamp, designed by the brilliant Joe Colombo for the Milanese house Oluce, original creation from 1967. The ad arco version with a semi-cylindrical head is an exceptional piece and extremely complex to manufacture, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after variations of the Coupé family. Features: Model: Coupé ad arco. Designer: Joe Colombo. Publisher: Oluce, Milan. Year: 1967. Height: 190 cm. Material: White lacquered base, chrome stem, white lacquered aluminium shade. Semi-cylindrical, adjustable and orientable head. Original, functional equipment. Condition: Very good overall condition. Marked wear on the shade. Stem and base in good condition. The Coupé series was initially designed as a variation of the Spider family by the same designer. The simple and ingenious mechanism connecting the stem to the head allows the beam to be directed in multiple directions by moving the dome up, down, and sideways. White lacquered base, chrome stem, orientable semi-cylindrical shade in white lacquered aluminium — a perfect formal balance between geometric rigor and Italian elegance. In 1968, the Coupé won the International Design Award from the American Institute of Interior Designers in Chicago. It is part of the permanent collections of MoMA in New York and the Neue Sammlung museum in Munich. Very good overall condition, fully functional original equipment, marked wear on the shade inherent to the age of the piece.
