Vintage Brazilian inlaid tray Morpho butterfly wings, 1930s

A stunning hard wood serving tray with inlaid butterfly wing decoration. Made in brazil in the 1930s. Hundreds of genuine butterfly wings artistically arranged and displayed under glass, mounted in wood as a tray, handles either side, with diagonal wood inlay banding surround, the striking blue wings are that of the giant blue morpho butterfly, their iridescence remaining bright despite age, other species used in the piece include the white morpho and swordtail butterflies. A wonderful object for personal use or as a eye catching decorative display object, perfect as a wedding present. It is in very good condition, only some of the wings have a little wear, as I show in the detailed photos. It measures 52 cm wide, 33.5 cm high and 4 cm deep.
