Wrought Iron Fireplace Grate with Scrolls and Brass Crossbar.
The facade aligns a series of vertical palm-shaped elements made of hammered iron with a delicately pitted surface, threaded onto a tubular golden brass crossbar that provides a bright counterpoint to the dark mass of iron. On either side, two curved uprights finish in scroll-like wraps, framing the inclined log holder with crossed bars that holds the logs. This wrought iron work from the 1950s, with its careful hammering and the characteristic iron-brass combination of the era, reflects the attention given to fireplace objects, designed as true decorative pieces as much as functional ones. Condition assessment: Generally good condition. Hammered iron with a beautifully nuanced patina, soft golden brass patina. A piece that adorns the fireplace year-round, in use as well as at rest.
