Important Daum Sirius vase – Mid-twentieth century

2790 - from the 1950's, museum type, this exceptional large and wide crystal vase signed "daum france with cross of lorraine" in good condition. No cracks or chips, very slight traces of limescale and micro-scratches of normal use. Strong crystalline sound since it includes 28% lead. This vase made, at the halle des verriers by a place manager helped by at least two "kids" according to the mandrel technique and the work of hot crochet applications for the petticoat and heel decoration, weighs 8650 g. Only talented and experienced master glassmakers could make them with this molten material in a centuries-old universe. It was named after a star after the principal in the constellation canis major and by far the brightest seen from earth, sirius.
