Sonja Wasser for Wasser Studio - Amsterdam - Pair of "Grass Hopper" armchairs Two wide, low armchairs, a pair of matching chairs with adjustable backrests, made of wood and brown/black stained leather with chromed metal tubing. The wooden frame consists of two inverted V-shaped armrests connected by two horizontal crossbars, supporting a very wide seat that extends to form a leather backrest. A tubular metal structure allows the backrest to be reclined. A leather band at the back, at lumbar level, provides seating comfort and holds a small rectangular head cushion. The top and bottom of the leather band, as well as the small adjustable head cushion, are decorated with an interlaced leather braid pattern. The hinges are marked "Emelite." Netherlands, circa 1960/1970. The head cushions and their straps have been reupholstered. One of the back bands is slightly short. Variation in wood color. Dimensions and weight. Height: 68 cm - Width: 85 cm - Depth: 102 cm. Weight: 25 kg each.
