Colourful handmade rug, 250 x 160 cm - AZ836

A beautifully understated handmade Moroccan rug combining a field of warm natural wool with delicate patterns inspired by the Amazigh. Its composition is much lighter and more subdued than a typical colourful Moroccan rug, allowing the small woven symbols and the central geometric column to stand out without overwhelming the space. The handwoven surface has a wonderfully organic texture, with subtle variations in the wool that immediately distinguish it from machine-made rugs. Each rug is handwoven by Amazigh (Berber) artisans, made from 100% natural sheep wool, woven on a traditional Berber loom, individually knotted and finished by hand, created using traditional Moroccan weaving techniques and completely unique in its kind. No mass production — only authentic Berber craftsmanship. Colour palette: base of natural ivory wool / creamy beige, complemented by small touches of soft turquoise blue, terracotta and rust, forest green, mustard yellow, pale coral, subtle touches of ochre. The muted character of these colours gives the piece a aged and earthy quality rather than a bright multicoloured appearance. Design & Amazigh Influence: a vertical sequence of handwoven diamond patterns forms the central axis of the rug. The diamonds are primarily highlighted in turquoise and terracotta, with occasional green details appearing in their centre. Smaller branched motifs are asymmetrically scattered across the ivory field, accompanied by simple crossed linear shapes near the upper corners. The diamonds and geometric shapes belong to a visual vocabulary strongly associated with Amazigh weaving traditions, where abstract symbols have been passed down through generations of weavers. Compatibility with interior style: particularly suited to warm minimalist interiors, Mediterranean homes, Japandi spaces, organic modern interiors, wabi-sabi aesthetics, contemporary rustic interiors, Scandinavian rooms, bohemian spaces, and natural neutral interiors. It is a particularly easy rug to decorate with: from a distance, it reads as a neutral and calm piece, while a closer inspection reveals the colourful handwoven details. Dimensions: 250 × 160 cm.
