The Cesca chair, designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928, is a true hallmark of modernist design. With its elegant tubular steel frame and natural cane seating, it perfectly reflects Bauhaus principles of simplicity, functionality, and innovation. Originally produced by Thonet, the chair rose to wider prominence in the 1950s through Italian manufacturer Dino Gavina, who named it after Breuer’s daughter, Francesca. In 1968, Knoll acquired the rights to the design, ensuring its ongoing production and solidifying its place as a design classic. Today, the Cesca chair remains highly sought after, admired for its timeless aesthetic, lightweight form, and enduring comfort—an icon that continues to feel relevant in contemporary interiors.
