Very rare, magnificent large bowl or dish, probably from the late 19th or early 20th century, made of clay/terracotta. Sublime Japonese-style decoration of flowers (daisies, bindweed, chrysanthemums) and a bird in flight, possibly a swallow, in polychrome relief, hand-glazed. In the background, wild grasses and reeds in fine gilding, with a gilded rim and interior hollow. Unmarked craftsmanship. Possibly a support bowl for a pot or vase, with a hole at the back allowing for use as a wall ornament. Diameter 35.5 cm, height 2 cm. In very good condition with some signs of age: loss of gilding, fine cracks in the glaze, small abrasions, wear, subtle nuances and discreet stains. No chips or cracks. Weight between 2 and 3 kg.
