Coffee table side table by Isamu Kenmochi for Tendo Mokko

Very beautiful and in excellent condition, this Haco model table is made of rosewood veneer on thermoformed wood. Its Japanese design is characteristic of the style of the great designer Isamu Kenmochi as well as the productions of the Japanese publisher Tendō Mokko, a major figure in Mid-Century Modern Japanese design. Isamu Kenmochi was a Japanese modernist designer who played an important role in the development of Japanese industrial design after the Second World War. Kenmochi met the artist and designer Isamu Noguchi in the summer of 1950 during Noguchi's first trip to Japan. Together, they created several furniture designs, pioneering the Japanese modern style that integrated the material culture of Japanese furniture with the principles of Mid-Century Modern.
