Here is a charming stool whose originality lies in its seat with a rather unusual rope weave. The two cords, because we can only see two knots underneath, are braided around the horizontal crosspieces at the top, which creates a double layer with two thicknesses spaced about 2 cm apart. The braiding in strands of 6 is "openwork" and the rope used has a very pleasant, soft, smooth feel. This stool could be of german origin and date from the 1950s. The wooden parts (solid) have been turned in a fairly simple way, with just a few rings to refine the whole, then covered with a dark varnish. This makes it a sober and elegant stool with harmonious proportions. It will bring a natural and original touch to any room in the house, as an extra seat, at the end of a sofa or at the bedside. It is in good general condition, the structure is still very solid, the rope is in good condition, not frayed, the seat is still well stretched. But obviously it does not hide some signs of its age and use: marks of blows and scratches, numerous, on the wooden parts. But this is also what makes its charm, its patina and it is always possible to apply a layer of varnish to make them disappear. It was very slightly wobbly, but it is no longer with the skates that I added. It measures 34 cm on the side and 35 cm in height.
