Napoleon III mirror

Large Napoleon III mirror in carved and gilded wood, 19th century. Superb Napoleon III mirror, rectangular in shape, richly adorned and very decorative. The moulded wooden structure features fine and elegant sculptural work, enhanced by original gilding: an openwork pediment with leafy scrolls, acanthus leaves, a frieze of ovals, and a central sculpted decoration. The whole is topped with pinnacles, adding a beautiful verticality and strong presence. The mirror is framed by detached columns, highlighted with gilded rings, which reinforce its architectural and sophisticated character. The glass is bevelled, adding depth and capturing light particularly well. Very beautiful old patina with partially worn gilding due to time, showing some wear and small signs of use consistent with its era, which contribute to its authentic charm. Ideal above a fireplace or as a centrepiece in a Haussmannian or classical interior. Dimensions: Height: 148 cm. Width: 82 cm.
