Empty-pocket in earthenware painted in imitation of olive wood, decorated with a cat in chinese shade, of grandjean-jourdan. Grandjean-jourdan pottery is originally a culinary pottery factory founded in vallauris in 1868, which in the early 1950s, adds to its traditional production, a line of artistic pottery. In the mid-1950s, the idea of imitating olive wood was born, a décor that met with great success. The profiles in chinese shadow are due to the painter emile masson. The best known of these profiles is that of sylvette david, the girl with the ponytail, who was also picasso's ephemeral muse in vallauris in 1954. There remains the trace of the print "grandjean-jourdan" under the base of this empty pocket.
