Adorable pair of Louis XV period armchairs.

Adorable pair of small armchairs from the louis XV period (before 1774). Space-saving, yet regal, these armchairs with their assured posture date back to the 18th century. They are not stamped but are crafted according to the rules of the art. Note the curves of the legs, decorated at the top with floral motifs carved into the wood. The apron, also discreetly animated, offers a central carved motif. An acanthus leaf rests casually on the bottom of the legs. The backrest is also animated and adorned with a central motif. Note the overall appearance, and this quiet poise. The fabric is recent, a very sober and elegant gray. It is in superb condition (no stains, no tears, no rubbing), including on the armrests. These pieces of furniture have had many lives before us. They have traces of repairs, some after-effects of old incidents. In particular, the central bar at the back has been removed (this does not affect the solidity), and a foot or two has been taken up. There is a tiny amount of play on one armrest. Obviously these are not seats made for playing musical chairs, but they are perfectly sound, solid and stable - and can support a person weighing 90 kilos without the slightest weakness.
