Antique blown glass demijohn encased in natural wicker. French work from the 1950s–1960s: wide weave, twisted strand side handle, tightly woven circular base. Originally a utilitarian agricultural object, now a sought-after decorative piece. Dimensions. Height 40 cm. Central diameter 20 cm. Base diameter 16 cm. Neck diameter 5 cm. Condition. Wicker in good overall condition, some wear to the ends due to age. Glass intact, with signs of old use. Uses. Vase for long stems, living room or conservatory decoration, container for homemade drinks, a striking piece that could be repurposed as a lamp or decorative reservoir. A demijohn that still retains the scent of barn doorways and the softness of sun-dried rattan. Price. €42.
