Walnut and burlap bedside table, 1900

Antique early 21st-century bedside table in oak and walnut veneer, mounted on casters. It has four drawers and a space originally intended to conceal a chamber pot. Originally quite austere, it was covered in a dark oak stain that masked the delicate details of the veneer. To restore its charm while preserving its authenticity, it was completely stripped and protected with a colorless satin varnish. To give it more lightness, the drawer fronts were covered in burlap. The interior of the drawers and the small niche were covered in a linen stain, bringing a soft and luminous touch. The raw oak top was also protected to ensure its durability.
