Art Nouveau Cachepot Planter in Marquise Shape with Floral Decoration in Lai

Period: ca. 1900-1920 this cachepot planter has an unusual shape of a pointed oval (marquise) which makes it a rare piece. The outer surface is made of hammered brass sheets which have been decorated with several flowers and leaves applied with the repoussé technique. The inner structure is made of wood. The upper edge has been finished with small decorative nails which add to the qualitative appearance of this item. It stands on low feet with pointed ends. Condition: good and usable. Some signs of use related to age. It is a little wobbly when empty, but when filled with the weight of the plants it is stable. Dimensions: 40 cm long, 13.5 cm wide, 12.5 cm high.
