This 1930s Bauhaus side table is from Czech production and follows the formal language shaped by Czech licensed manufacturers such as Halabala and Slezak during that decade. The frame consists of chrome-plated steel tube, bent into splayed, outward-curving legs on black rubber glides. Two circular shelf surfaces in wood are black-stained and reveal a clearly visible ash grain. The upper surface is larger than the lower shelf, giving the piece its characteristic proportions. Chrome-plated steel tube and dark-stained wood produce a material contrast that belongs to the Bauhaus aesthetic of the early 1930s. Black rubber glides protect the floor. As a 1930s side table, the piece is two-tiered and equally useful as a surface beside the sofa or as an accent table in a study. With a diameter of approximately 70 cm, it has a notable presence without occupying much space. In a Berlin period flat, this chrome steel tube side table pairs equally well with other Bauhaus furniture of the era and with contemporary mixed interiors. No manufacturer documentation present.
