Magnificent and rare antique pitcher / jug in barbotine (majolica earthenware), from the Art Nouveau period (circa 1900). Saint Amand. This naturalistic model features a stunning relief decoration of sun-drenched oranges hanging from their branches amidst very detailed green foliage. The textured neck mimics tree bark, and the handle takes the form of a knotted branch with great finesse. The interior showcases a beautiful pink/raspberry gradient glaze, very typical of French productions from this era. Height: 16cm, width: 17.5cm, diameter: 12.5cm. Origin: France. Signed under the base with the model name "Oranges" engraved in relief, accompanied by the mention "Made in France". Style: Art Nouveau / Country chic / Retro. Colours: Fir green, soft green, copper orange, brown, and pink interior. Condition: Good overall condition for its age. Superb glaze shine and beautiful colours. Note the normal signs of age: a natural crazing of the glaze, as well as slight colourations/marks of use under the base and at the neck, which attest to its authenticity (please look closely at the photos). No major chips or structural cracks. Perfect for a retro chic decoration, to serve a refreshing drink on a summer table, or to repurpose as a vase. Very careful and ultra-secure shipping with double protection.
