The salt shaker produced by HSG Ząbkowice in Poland in the 1930s is an example of a utilitarian art deco form in glass. Made of transparent glass with a slightly cool, grayish hue, it features a compact, rounded shape, a slightly flared rim, and a solid, thick base. The exterior surface is adorned with a faceted, geometric pattern with vertical and diagonal cuts that give the item depth and a striking rhythmic play of light. The interior of the vessel remains smooth and shiny, contrasting with the tactile texture of facets on the outside. The proportions are harmonious—the bowl widens towards the top and narrows to the base, and the entire piece is finished to a high gloss. Small chips are visible on the edges, typical for age and use; however, the overall condition is assessed as good, without signs of restoration or serious damage. This small object recalls the spirit of the 30s, when geometric decoration and transparency of glass became synonymous with modernity and optimism of the interwar period. Although practical, the salt shaker reveals the designers' fascination with light and proportion—its faceted surfaces capture and diffuse light like a miniature crystal, and the gray hue of the glass creates a discreet aura of urban interiors of that epoch. Its form resonates with the belief that even a common tabletop detail can be a vehicle for style and mood, serving as a subtle decoration and a witness to times gone by. It can be displayed on a veneered console, in a glass cabinet, or as a detail on a modern table, where the geometric cuts will catch the reflections of daylight. It will pair well with other objects from the art deco era, such as chrome stands, porcelain trinkets, or silver elements. In eclectic spaces, it is worth pairing it with colorful glass, and in minimalist arrangements—with simple ceramics or wooden accessories to accentuate its historical lineage and raw geometry.
