Folk art painted bridal wardrobe

A brightly colored bridal armoire dating from around 1800. This armoire is primarily painted blue and adorned with numerous floral decorations. The moldings are marbled red. The piece has been restored, meaning that part of the base and feet have been replaced. In addition, the entire piece has been treated against woodworm; some traces of this treatment are visible on the interior and back. The interior of the armoire includes a shelf and a hanging rail. The door still has its original, working lock and key. It was once customary to present this type of bridal furniture to the bride and groom at a wedding. These pieces were then placed in a state room on the farm, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative historical piece. The coat of arms is removable for transport. 183 cm high, 124 cm wide, 64 cm deep.
